big time, really. i was shocked as i logged in today and want to do the daily poll to get some $c, as always the question wasn't really creative:
a easy peasy question you may think now but look at the sad sad results (i felt vicarious embarrassment):
HELLO! i mean i thought stardoll is all about fame, fashion and friends. focusing on the fashion who doesn't know that KARL fucking LAGERFELD is the head designer of fucking chanel (excuse my french) i mean this is basic knowledge even if you are not really into fashion and art. for your information the head designer of YSL at the moment is STEFANO PILATI (because Yves Saint Laurent died 1.6 2008) and dior hasn't a new head designer since JOHN GALLIANO was fired last year. considering this lack of information around the stardoll user the next think SD could offer at starplaza is this bag.
for all those who wonder who the old guy with the sunglass and the white hair is ... that is karl lagerfeld ... tz tz tz
that is the question, and sorry for destroying one of the most known qoutes ever like this but i just needed to share my latest beauty-trend with you. if you read fashion magazines, and i don't mean those cheap girly ones like glamour i mean the real shit like vogue, harpers bazaar, elle, zoo magazine, i-D. oh i could go on forever (i'm a magazine addicted if you could watch my reaction as i visit DO YOU READ ME?! the first time you would have called an ambulance), however if you read those kind of magazines you may have noticed that in some pictures the models lost their eyebrows. of course the eyebrows weren't shaved off completely ... to create the effect of a more intensive sight the make up artist start bleaching the eyebrows like this:
and since stardoll improved the beauty parlor we're able to control the intensity of our medolls eyebrows. but it seems like this feature isn't really popular though you can give your doll a total different look when you "bleach" the eyebrows as you can see on the picture below:
the difference lays in the details. bleaching your eyebrows gives your make up and face a way more edgy character. maybe you try it out and like it, the trick is to just do it and isn't that one of the basic fashion rules ?
btw: there are a bunch of new make up things in the shop, i can really recommend the lavender dove haircolor and the royal embrace highlighter. combine those two and you get a really cool dip dye look:
what makes her style special: watching anne sofies medoll is sometimes like watching the rising sun, that may sound a bit cheesy but i think is the best metaphor to descirbe her style. as you can see in the exampels below anne sofie follows a certain rule when dressing up her doll, the rule of minialism which isn't always easy to follow. her outfits could be based on early JIL SANDER collections. in my opinion her style is dominated by a restraint which was shaped by designers like ALEXANDER WANG. again we have a special use of color (which is for me the key to a unique and personal style) which is also shown in the examples below.
after explaining her style and show some awsome examples its time to let the it girl rise her voice, of course anne sofie answerd a few question focusing on fashion, style and inspiration which you can also check out on her personal real-life blog.
where do your inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from many different places. I follow various
fashion blogs, I read fashion magazines and since my style is influenced
by the 198Os and 199Os I also find a lot of inspiration in TV-shows and
movies from those two decades.
do you have a fashion icon ?
Mary-Kate Olsen has always been my number one icon. I love the way she dresses and behaves. She's such an inspiration.
what is you favourite color and why?
My favorite color is black because it goes with everything. I don't like
bright colors and never have. I simply don't feel comfortable in, say,
red or yellow or whatever. I like muted colors.
your favourite piece of clothes ?
I'm not sure if you're looking for a specific fave piece of clothes from
my wardrobe or if it's my fave item in general(?) However, I love
shorts. They're comfortable to wear and they come in so many different
varieties and are always easy to style. And they allow me to show off my
legs. ;-)
I would kill for designs from ...
Acne and Chanel. Acne is the most
interesting brand, I think. Their style is just what I like. Chanel is
just the greatest of all, in my opinion. I love vintage Chanel and plan
to get a vintage Chanel bag - hopefully soon!
it was really interesting to look behind a dolls style and see what lies below, i hope you feel as inspired as i do now. more dolls should concentrate on building a personal style instead of putting some feathers on her eyes because "everybody does it" stardoll is place where we can express OURSEFLS keep that in mind and don't forget to visit ANNE.SOFIE, don't be afraid to wirte some nice words in her guestbook.
is out in starplaza. i was surprised how much better the clothes looked than they did in the spoilers i even broke my rule of avoid neon like bright colors.
i really went wild and bought much (for me it felt like this but someone who spend 5000 $ at LE may laugh now) i'm a huge fan of antidote sadly i never had enough money or simply wasn't a superstar when it came out but not this time. however i didn't went completely nuts as i liked the antidote collection before better and will try to get some of it when it's sellable at starbazaar so i needed to hold back some money.
here is what i bought:
yellow spaceman tunic (45$), enjoy antidote top (40$), yellow zip moto miniskirt (40$)
chill pill tee (40$), gumball jeans (40$), pill pop skirt (35$)
wolf bird crop sweater (35$)
green popstar glasses (25$), banded black pleather boots (35$)
extra extra clutch (25$), kapow clutch (30$), pill pop necklace (20 $)
i think this collection is really well done, we have alot of inspiration from street art and pop art. the only think which annoys me a bit are the colors. we have a lot of pink (again) which make some of the clothes look like cheap barbie trash fashion but this a problem we have to deal with since SD hired a 10 year old girl (that loves her pony named starlight and is the biggest barbie fan ever!) which is now the leading graphic designer sorry but this is my only reasonable explanation for this color trouble.
~ REAL LIFE VERSIONS ~
as i wrote in the last post, it seems like the greatest influence (for the clothes) of this ANTIDOTE collection was the marvelous JEREMY SCOTT, especially his fall ready to wear 2011 collection, one of my fave collections of the last year (besides givenchy and meadham kirchhoff), towards scott his biggest inspiration for this collection were the ninetees "I was thinking a lot about 1994: going to school, getting dressed up to go to parties, the enthusiasm I had," he said after the show. and if you're a regular reader you already now how much i like the ninetees pop culture so its only logical that i was more than keen about this work of jeremy scott, however back to the pictures. here they are:
(only the glasses)
i hope i can figure out on which designs the other clothes are based on. at the end of the day what would a street/popart inspired ANTIDOTE collection would be without BANKSY and OBEY so if you don't know who that is you should really click on the names. but i'm pretty sure you have seen some of their works already wihtout realizing who or what it was.
thanks USD for this picture
this is it for now and if i find some more real life originals of the antidote clothes i bought i will put them here so check again on this post if you're interested. the last thing i have is some eye candy for you. a video of JEREMY SCOTT's fall 2011 ready to wear collection.
hey fellas i hope you've missed me and my crazy posts. i had a wonderful
chirstams and a wild new years eve in case you're interested. but now
its time to focus again and i couldn't choose a better moment to start
blogging again, if you check USD regulary you already now that the new
antidote is on its way to SD and i'm really excited. according to the spoilers it seems like sd had most fo its inspiration for the clothes from jeremy scott.
thats it for now. i will promise you guys a very enthusiastic antidote post and of course the special stardoll year 2011 review i wrote about.
