is a character from one of my favourite films ever. the film is called the royal tenenbaums directed by WES ANDERSON. what makes margot tenenbaum such a unique character, besides her cinycal and depressive attitude, it's the way she dresses. to understand her style we need to understand what PREPPY is, for those who never heard of it preppy was a word for pupil which visited a really good school it was used in the north of america to also describe a group of people with a lifestyle characterized by money, vanity and hubris however the word was later adopted for the fashion world. best example for "preppy couture" is TOMMY HILFIGER, he was the one open this style for the masses. sailer shoes polo shirts, pale and pastel colors like mint green and white define the preppy style.
back to margot she is (like the whole tenenbaum family is ) a satirical skit of the preppyism. she wears the preppy dresscode but her make up shows how she isn't the nice little girl from a good house. so the conflict growing inside her is reflected at her outside too thats why her style is for me worth to be a role model. but to understand better what i try to explain you should really watch that film !
to create your own margot tenenbaum make up you don't need much. step one: get the above hairstyle as it looks really like margots headdress in the film. step two: lighten the eyebrows till they look really pale. step three: use the black eyline, the black khol pencil and the black eyeshadow and paint the lower eyelid with those three (not the upper one that is important !) and tah - dah you get your own margot make up ... easy peasy isn't it !
i hope i can make a "preppy (get the look)" post soon but those tutorial are really much work so i can't say when it really will be released. before i forget here a picture of the real margot.
